It wasn't one of my priority pieces, so I've just spent time on it when I could. I'm pleased with the way it turned out. I have changed a few little bits and included my initials in one place and the date completed in another, just a personal touch to it.
Anyway a few spare weeks and she's come out and had a bit more added. I've nearly finished the first 6 pages now and I'm happy with the overall look so far. Now she's wrapped up and away again, probably till Christmas when I'm on holiday again.
Ackworth is not that far away from Doncaster, so on Sunday morning we went there.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 300px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_sJCG700eUXw/S32QA7LC7xI/AAAAAAAABXQ/TfcWKi-XrxU/s400/sr+689.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439662270491848466" />
I finished her off today by hemstitching all round. This was my first attempt at hemstitching. It took about an hour to set it up and over an hour to stitch each of the sides.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 381px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_sJCG700eUXw/S32Qnn3tbhI/AAAAAAAABXY/-6v5QxbQqnM/s400/sr+710.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5439662935325371922" />
As a result of a counting error, probably caused by altering so many of the motifs, I was unable to fit in the two half flower motifs on the upper to mid right hand side. I also chose not to add the initials but I did put in my own with the date. So for the record this was done on 32 ct lambswool linen with Caron Wildflowers Blueberry. I used Gutermann colour 169, an perfect match, for the finishing.

Good luck to the rest of you out there with this project.
Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06821498839025365764noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-25791638809904999172010-01-30T11:35:00.000-08:002010-01-25T01:55:45.842-08:00Right who is up for a challenge????Okay so I admit, Mary Wigham has been last on my list of wips to get going with. I feel kind of sorry for her sat at the bottom of my pile of wips and getting sorely neglected. Sooo.... who is up for a challege??? Does anyone know the exact number of motifs in this design? Could we challenge ourselves to completing several motifs a month to try and get this thing finished in a year??? Anyone up for it? Anyone? If you know the exact number then lets divide it by 12 and see if it's do-able. This is how I managed to get my Beatrix P finished and it really does work if you stick to a system. I would love to have another ackworth sampler finished. So, come on. Let me know on this post if you're up for it.Hazelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07391187914615955281noreply@blogger.com8tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-65889665767300879412010-01-28T13:46:00.000-08:002010-01-28T13:46:29.467-08:00Julia makes a startHi everyone,
I've just joined up after seeing some of the beautiful work from here on other forums. I live in Northumberland on the North East coast with DH and 3 Golden retrievers which are my 'family' who I show at weekends too, so weekend time is limited!
Anyway its taken some deciding on what colour I was going to stitch this in, so here is my decission and first motif stitched up. I'm going to aim at 1 motif a week to make this feasable in my stitching programme, and as I (foolishly) decided on 40 ct Antique Edinburgh Linen, my eyes probably wont take much more!!
I think I have about six days left on this. I am not putting in all the initials. I may put in the alphabet in upper and lower case if I can find a chart. Does anyone know where I can find one?

Putting in the borders of the internal medallions was in an attempt to kid myself that I really was further on than I was.

Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06821498839025365764noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-15216054106822616672010-01-25T01:55:00.000-08:002010-01-25T01:56:29.589-08:00FreebieLovely freebie chart from Rosemary found on Needleprint here:

http://needleprint.blogspot.com/2010/01/simple-gifts-free-download-from.html

xxHazelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07391187914615955281noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-84318678406475256782009-12-10T12:27:00.000-08:002009-12-10T12:30:21.935-08:00Another update<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 392px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_sJCG700eUXw/SyFaNzX-stI/AAAAAAAABEs/C15UeNVpR5M/s400/sr+527.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5413707420251632338" />
Here is Mary Wigham so far. If I am honest poor Mary has not had a look in these last few months. My aim is to complete Beatrix within the year and then I can give my full attention to Mary. The Beatrix SAL has taken most of my attention this year and I probably "bit off more than I could chew" so to speak taking on this SAL too. Please forgive me. So from January, I will be posting a lot more regularly. Please someone tell me I am not the only one :-(

I love all the variations I am seeing and there is part of me thinking I might unpick and restart with some other colours. I am stitching the given dmcs over 1 on 25 count and it's tiny!

Anyway, please continue to post as and when you feel to. There is no pressure with this blog - it is just here for our own encouragement and motivation.

HugsxHazelhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07391187914615955281noreply@blogger.com6tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-54488363085190027562009-10-06T01:43:00.000-07:002009-10-06T02:03:42.983-07:00Mary's taking part in Quaker WeekHi all
I'm Meg and a quaker living in Scotland. I started Mary in August but due to health and camera problems I haven't got any pics to post yet. I'm stitching her on 14 count natural Yorkshire aida using the threads from the chart and have now completed 2 sides.
I just wanted to share with you all that this is Quaker Week in the UK and my Mary is visiting Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House every day this week for me to stitch in between the activities. I was asked to take her along as on Friday the day is all about Suffragettes and Suffragists and in particular Eliza Wigham who was an activist up here in Scotland.
Yesterday I was asked to see if I could find out if they were related in anyway. From my brief research last night I know that they are both descendants of Cuthbert Wigham from Cornwood in Northumberland. Our Mary is his grandaughter and I think that Eliza may be his great great grandaughter. But it's a very complicated family tree as Cuthbert had 5 children and, so far, I have found 19 grandchildren!
I hope to get some photos of Mary this week at the Meeting House and I'll let you know if I find the connection. You never know there might even be some Wighams around on Friday to meet Mary!Meghttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16614160037536552625noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-41200939691021478072009-09-29T10:08:00.000-07:002009-09-29T10:10:25.270-07:00The sides are finishedThis weekend I finished the sides. Could be because her owner was in the rural crafts tent demonstrating bobbin lace.

Thought I'd take her for the outing though.

Her next outing will be to the 'Not just lace fair' at Pudsey. If any other Mary Wigham stitches are going to be there do you fancy meeting for lunch and comparing stitches?
Jaynehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06451507233079527070noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-86179044474429108072009-09-07T11:34:00.001-07:002009-09-07T11:36:58.943-07:00More progressHere is my latest progress pic.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 267px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_sJCG700eUXw/SqVSY9RhK6I/AAAAAAAAA1s/io8gMqgR0X4/s400/sr+342.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5378795918682303394" />
Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06821498839025365764noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8925902267164048388.post-20896202380259149872009-09-01T22:43:00.000-07:002009-09-01T22:58:11.966-07:00Sewing Mary Wigham This Picture was taken at the top of the Mount, Mount Maunganui, Bay of Plenty. I am now going along the bottom. I still need to decide what to do about the initials, I will probably miss them out all together or put the alphabet in their place. Someone else has done the alphabet (photo some where on Needleprint's blog) and it looked quite good.

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 400px; height: 348px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_sJCG700eUXw/Sol-a0ILIAI/AAAAAAAAAwY/XjvHVrEMsS8/s400/sr+294.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5370963029750652930" />

Jenhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/06821498839025365764noreply@blogger.com0
