Right who is up for a challenge????

Okay so I admit, Mary Wigham has been last on my list of wips to get going with. I feel kind of sorry for her sat at the bottom of my pile of wips and getting sorely neglected. Sooo.... who is up for a challege??? Does anyone know the exact number of motifs in this design? Could we challenge ourselves to completing several motifs a month to try and get this thing finished in a year??? Anyone up for it? Anyone? If you know the exact number then lets divide it by 12 and see if it's do-able. This is how I managed to get my Beatrix P finished and it really does work if you stick to a system. I would love to have another ackworth sampler finished. So, come on. Let me know on this post if you're up for it.

  2. Late as it is I make it 18 side medallions, 6 smaller/part medallions, 8 flowers (around the edge), 13 medallions/motifs of varying sizes in the middle.I am not counting any letters or Mary Wigham. As it is one over one lets say MW counts as one. By my calculations that makes it 46 motifs. At a rate of one a week it should be finished this year. I am working on this principle myself and only stitch on Mary on Sundays. If I finish a motif I have a choice, carry on or do something else. I have also stitched the edges of the internal medallions to kid myself that there is not much left to do. Will post tomorrow to show you what I mean.

  3. Gillie - I'd love you to join but I think there is a group in the US run by Sheri. I'll look into it for you.

Jen - that's great so.. approximately 4 motifs a month or 1 a week should do it. Okay that is definately do-able. Anyone going to join the challenge?? Lets get posting our wip updates. 4 Motifs a month.

  5. Jen, what a great idea. I still need to decide on thread colours before I can even start!! This will kick start me now to make a decision.

  6. I must admit that since Quaker Week in September Mary has been put to one side but I started stitching again at the weekend and now I can't put her down. I'm aiming to have her finished by May as that is when I am giving a talk on Quaker Crafts and it would be nice to have a completed Ackworth sampler to show off.
So I think I'll use your idea and work out how many motifs I would have to stitch each week to finish in time especially since I've joined another Ackworth SAL which starts next month!
Sundays is my day off from Quaker stitching as after I go to Quaker meeting I work on my Quaker tapestry project - at least that has been the plan for the past 2 years and yesterday I finally got around to getting it out to look at it! Maybe I'll finish it too in 2010!
